Niche Site Project 3 – December 2019 Update
I love all of my niche site projects but I think this one ties for my favorite with Niche Site Project 2. You see, they are both directly related to my goals of being a homeowner once again.
While NSP2 focuses on budgeting and finance and allows me to blog about that aspect of things, this site allows me to blog about all the other fun stuff that comes with homeownership.
Here, I can talk about everything from decor, gardening, choosing where to build your perfect home, etc. It is comprised in part of articles on subjects I know quite a lot about, and partly topics I am researching as part of the process in deciding where to buy my second home and whether to build or buy.
Project Dashboard
Now that this site is starting to earn (albeit not much) I really need to take some time to update this dashboard.
The one disadvantage of Airtable is that the dashboards each have to be set up or modified manually. You can’t just make one you like and copy it.
If I am ever rich I will probably have someone build me a custom dashboard/reporting system that integrates to Airtable that is amazing. For now, I’ll update it when I have time. It still gives you some good data though!
Content
I’m starting to be more consistent in publishing. Oddly enough, the more content I add the more page views I get. π
I published a handful of articles in June when I started the site and then let it sit. The exact articles published were:
- June – 7
- July – 1
- August – 2
- September – 0
- October – 10
- November – 12
- December – 10
You can see on the graph of pageviews below, that adding more content these past three months has had a positive impact on traffic.
Of course, the site is getting “older” too so Google may be showing it more love. Speaking of traffic…
Traffic
Slowly but steadily climbing my way upward. I spent some time this month developing a content plan for the site and I hope to start adding more articles starting January to keep this trending upward.
As you can see, the majority of my traffic is organic search. I haven’t introduced this blog to Pinterest yet. So many blogs, so little time. I do, however, think that this site will do well on Pinterest so I need to get that going at some point.
While it doesn’t look like a whole lot of growth on this comparison chart, I was surprised to see the values actually showing growth between 32 – 38%. That is a pretty good number and I am very happy with that!
Income
The site made a whopping $1.72 this month bringing the lifetime total to $3.76!
RPM via Adsense was $1.30 per thousand page views.
Goals
The overall goals here are still just to add new content. The site is still in it’s infancy so I’ll continue to monitor it just to make sure it is growing.
I am also going to try and get it on Ezoic ASAP to get that revenue moving in the right direction. I have a few content ideas that I think will help me get it there.
